I had a list of things that I hoped this movie would not do and it do pretty much all of them.
Full transparency – I loved Last Jedi. I thought it was bold and was excited for the fertile story-telling place the series was left in. It was exciting to think about all the possibilities that lie ahead for the new characters and it was satisfying where the older characters were left.
Rise of Skywalker ignores all of that potential and opportunity in favor of fan service and a story that feels like fan-fiction.
