Director: Jake Kasdan | Writer(s): Scott Rosenberg, Jake Kasdan, Jeff Pinkner I was really worried about this movie. The first was lightning in a bottle. No expected much from it and were pleasantly surprised a what a fun and entertaining movie it was. The sequel, on the other hand, had the expectations of the first to live up to. I am so glad they delivered. This sequel finds an interesting and plausible premise that gets everyone back in the game. For me personally, my enjoyment of this film hinged on that. After everything that happened in the first movie, why in the world would anyone in their right mind go back in? Exactly. The filmmakers set it up well and added enough new wrinkles that I was back in and was able to enjoy almost as much as the first one. The gamer in me loved the new video game tropes that we mined for laughs and the cast of avatar actors did a great job with the wrinkles to their characters. If you liked the first one, definitely watch this one. Make sure you watch all the way to end too.

Director: J.J. Abrams | Writer(s): J.J. Abrams, Chris Terrio I had a list of things that I hoped this movie would not do and it do pretty much all of them. Full transparency – I loved Last Jedi. I thought it was bold and was excited for the fertile story-telling place the series was left in. It was exciting to think about all the possibilities that lie ahead for the new characters and it was satisfying where the older characters were left. Rise of Skywalker ignores all of that potential and opportunity in favor of fan service and a story that feels like fan-fiction. ———– SPOILERS BEGIN ——————- This is movie is just Return of the Jedi 2.0!
